Kite Flying

Like a paper kite I am blown away
Grasping for the guidelines
Becoming more tenuous
Not soaring, but drifting on a malevolent breeze
It’s a matter of perspective!
The earth is flat and the sky is grey.

Higher and higher into the blurry-eyed day
Gasping for air now
Becoming harder to breath
Not trying, but heading for oblivion
It’s a matter of perspective!
There is a God and I’m going His way.

But then a kindly breeze catches my drift
And having no moorings can mean
Being more free
Not dying, but gliding on fledgling wings
It’s a matter of perspective!
The rock and the hard place are losing their sway.
